American Idol Season 11: Top 10 Billy Joel Night
I love the Billy Joel collection. Songs are great and heartfelt. What a talented musician!!!
Hollie Cavanagh - Honesty: This was cringe inducing. Normally, I am a huge fan but this was nowhere near pitch perfect. You were either under or over the pitch a lot. This was by far your worst performance. You have potential to be great but you have to ground yourself.
Deandre Brackensick - Only The Good Die Young: This was okay. I can see where it could have been better. It lacked consistent energy and drive. You could definitely be in danger especially since you went 1st. Just wasn't a memorable performance.
Heejun Han - My Life: Mockery or not, it was still your best vocal LOL. Yea it was self indulgent and a bit all over the place. You definitely pissed Steven Tyler off LOL. But it was entertaining and that is really what it boils down to.
Joshua Ledet - She's Got A Way: There were some nice tones going on here but there were also moments of uncomfortableness. There was a nice arc in your vocals. I liked it for the most part minus the few unsure issues.
Skylar Laine - Shameless: There is something about your type of country singing that I LOVE!!! It has grit and power but still with a country twang. You gave that song your all and did an amazing job with the vocal.
Phillip Phillips - Movin' Out: There were some really really great moments in here. The groove for this song was so crazy good. What a great arrangement!!! My only problem is when you go for your higher notes, they seemed way too forced and throaty. I would love for you to open your top register more. Other than that, it was an amazing vocal and arrangement.
Erika Van Pelt - New York State Of Mind: Yes great song choice for you. I felt that the beginning was more together than the second half. Your beautiful vocal tone can not be denied. This was way better than last week's debacle. Keep making strides!!!
Elise Testone - Vienna: I have never heard this song but this was a performance all the way around!! Vocal, stage presence, and heart. Just came together very nicely for you and I couldn't be happier!!! You used the right amount of growl and that last run was CRAZY!!
Jessica Sanchez - Everybody Has A Dream: This song was so fit for you!!! Wow your vocals are so crazy good. You are a cross of J-Hud, Beyonce, Christina, Whitney, Mariah, and Celine. It is like they all got together and molded a singing teenager!!! Wow seriously, I don't want you to be the casualty of AI this season. I want to hear you until the finals and then with your own record!!!
Colton Dixon - Piano Man: I don't know if it was the mood lighting or that this is one of my favorite songs or your touching vocals or the piano accompaniment but it made me cry. Not one performance has done to me before this one. Wow I loved every second of it. Just an awesome moment on the stage!!
Well I would like to see Hollie, Deandre, and Heejun in the bottom but we all know that America will get it wrong. Elise and Erika will go there but hopefully with Deandre. I wouldn't mind seeing him go home. He has not lived up to his potential. Some really stellar performances tonight. I love how the ranks change week after week.
