American Idol Season 11: Top 9 Idol Week

This was pretty much a free for all week. We might actually get to hear some really great songs because these are the artist that the contestants adore.

Deandre Brackensick - Sometimes I Cry: You are probably the most frustrating contestant for me. I hear this gorgeous voice but you choose to stay up in the stratosphere of your voice. IT IS OKAY TO USE YOUR NATURAL VOICE!!!! Seriously beautiful instrument but you ARE NOT using it properly. I feel like you are used to the same tricks. I would love to hear one song without falsetto. I DARE YA! I won't happen.

Joshua Ledet - Without You: By far your WORST performance. The song didn't fit you. You just ran and riffed all over the end. It felt contrived. Like you were trying too hard to be emotional but it just didn't happen. Not the right song choice for you. I have performed this song and it is not easy. I don't know why you would do it on a main stage like this. WHERE IS THE OLD JOSHUA????

Skylar Laine - Gunpowder And Lead: So craziness. The weeks that you sing country songs are the weeks that I dislike your vocals. Vocals were kind of shrill and thin. Very out of breath at times. Not your best at all. I like you sing non-country!

Hollie Cavanagh - Jesus Take The Wheel: I don't know why but you are losing steam every week. This was a very generic performance. Nothing special and nothing creative. It was an okay but shouty vocal. NO MORE BALLADS FOR YOU!!! Seriously!!

Phillip Phillips - Still Rainin': NOOOO What did you do with the Phillip from last week and 2 weeks ago???? I want him back. This resorted back to your old ways and I am not digging it. Wasn't your worst but definitely wasn't your best. Stop YELLING at me at the end of your songs.

Colton Dixon - Everything: Pretty good. It was a little climatic but didn't quite go where I wanted it to go. Beginning was gorgeous. Just watch that you don't become forgettable and continue to do the same type of songs. Rock it out next week!!!

Heejun Han - Song For You: Even with your accent coming through a little bit, this was still your best vocal BY FAR!!! It had passion and power. Your voice reminds me of Michael McDonald a little. There was a messy part towards the end but the rest was awesome. You milked it in the right places and totally delivered.

Elise Testone - Whole Lotta Love: THAT IS HOW YOU ROCK OUT!!!! She commanded the performance and the stage with her energy and vocals!! Wow it was like I was watching her concert!!!! There was just a few questionable pitches but the end was AMAZING!!!!

Jessica Sanchez - Sweet Dreams: WOW Since you are singing a Beyonce song, YOU SOUND JUST LIKE HER. I can totally tell who your idol is. CRAZY. I listened to mp3 and it is so uncanny how much you sound like her. I love what you did with the arrangement. It was different and still GREAT!!!

I loved the medleys!!! Great idea Idol! On the other hand, this was not the best night of performances. There were really only 3 that I cared for and 1 of the 3 was from a surprise contestant. I feel like bottom 3 will be Deandre, Hollie, and Joshua. Probably with Deandre departing us. I just don't think that he has learned anything from the experience because we haven't seen any growth.
