AMERICAN IDOL 12 TOP 10 GUYS
The girls showed up and showed out last night. Let's see if the guys can do the same.
Charlie Askew - Mama: No No No No. I hated this performance from you. Where is Nature Boy Charlie??? I need him back. This did not feel genuine at all. Not a great song choice and you looked awkward the entire time. I will say more confident than last time but still not good at all.
Curtis Finch Jr. - I Believe I Can Fly: So there was nothing else that you could have performed tonight???? The over singing is so GRATING and I can't with you sir. Your over acting and over exaggerating is more than enough. PLEASE HAVE MANY SEATS. If there were to ever be a "villian" on this show, I am sure that you are it. You are smug and it comes across in your performances. That was a pure vocal mess and needs to be pulled back 100 times. I feel that if you can reign it in, you might have potential but this is not it. NEXT...
Lazaro Arbos - Feeling Good: First of all, 20 points down for song choice. This is one of my least favorite songs to ever grace my ears. There is so much that you can do differently with the song and everyone who performs, does it the same way. Your runs were not clean at all and you fell off the end of your phrases. I want to root for you but you are like that wounded cat that you just want to "take to a better place". I feel like we are stringing you along and down the road it may become a bit hurtful for you. Why not just end it now???
Nick Boddington - Iris: Definitely a better song choice but I don't think that it worked 100 percent. Your runs were not clean and your tone was very generic. It just didn't go anywhere for me. I was watching this performance and saying "Who cares?"
Vincent Powell - End Of The Road: Uncontrolled and messy. Wow that is a total change from the controlled subdued performance from last week. What happened??? That run at the end was DISASTROUS. Still like the tone of your voice but you were just so messy tonight. SMH
Elijah Liu - Stay: What???? This was 245 percent better than last week. I really really really loved this vocal. This is the register that you need to sing in all of the time. Wow I was pleasantly shocked and surprised. There was one moment where I felt that you weren't completely into the song but other than that, you seemed pretty connected.
Cortez Shaw - Locked Out Of Heaven: I liked this song for you. It seemed to fit your vocals very well. Very in the pocket. You seemed current and now and I was really feeling it. No major vocal flaws and great energy throughout!
Burnell Taylor - I'm Here: Your vocal tone is so awesome!!! You could totally tell that you were personally connected to the song and you could hear it. Your phrasing was impeccable. I would just watch your theatrics. Don't want to come across as elementary and contrived such as the "praying" hands. But other than that Great job!!!
Paul Jolley - Just A Fool: Your vocal tone is AMAZING!!! I felt like you were so connected to the song. You committed so much and I loved it. Even when you went up into your falsetto, it was well placed and allowed for an amazing projection back into your lower register. Way to step up your game!
Devin Velez - It's Impossible: Another tone that is MONEY!!! Especially when you sing in Spanish, it just pops. I thought that this was a good performance. Could have used a little more polishing but a very good vocal overall!!
For me DEVIN, PAUL, BURNELL, CORTEZ, and ELIJAH could take the 5 spots with NICK getting the 6th if it came down to that. But for some reason I know that LAZARO, CURTIS, and CHARLIE are going to get spots because they are judges/fan favorites which means that we will definitely say goodbye to VINCENT. He needed a superstar performance and he just didn't do it. I am going to say that CORTEZ, NICK, and ELIJAH will be replace with CHARLIE, CURTIS, and LAZARO. Sucks but hopefully I am wrong.
