AMERICAN IDOL 12: Top 5 Divas and Songs From The Year You Were Born
So I can't even tell you how excited I am about having a female Top 5. But it is a little bittersweet. One of our girls will be going home.
Janelle Arthur - Dumb Blonde: It was pretty good. Not stellar. There were moments where I felt like you didn't really settle on the notes. Good energy but just not a song that I would have chosen.
Kree Harrison - She Talks To Angels: Good song choice for you. I loved that you hit those high notes with ease but still there was nothing behind them. I wanted you to have more depth behind each note.
Kree Harrison - Have You Ever Been In Love: One of my favorite songs by Celine. I think that you should have lowered it a couple of steps but it was still good. When you went to reach the high notes, it came off a bit strained.
Amber Holcomb - Without You: I applaud you for taking a risk with a song like this. Unfortunately, it didn't pay off as well as I expected. The power notes seemed a little thin and there were moments where it recognizably too low for you. Still a pretty good rendition.
Angie Miller - I'll Stand By You: I really love when you are at the piano. It just invokes a feeling and presence that you don't capture when you are just standing there with a microphone. Good job with a great emotional song.
Janelle Arthur - When I Call Your Name: This was great for you. I love that you definitely know how to tell a story. That will get you so far! This was "true" country and you just floated right on it. This is probably one of my favorite performances from you. GREAT JOB!!!
Angie Miller - Halo: A good song choice for you and you also gave it a new spin. This song could get repetitive and redundant and you made it interesting throughout. I loved hearing your ad libs.
Candice Glover - Straight Up: The groove and finesse that this performance had is crazy amazing. I mean you sounded like you came out of Jill Scott's womb. Hmmm mmmm mmmm.
Candice Glover - When You Believe: This was seriously vocal perfection for me. It combined everything that is great about Candice and the song into one arrangement. I loved when she went from the lower harmony to the upper harmony. That is how you sing a duet as a solo artist.
Amber Holcomb - What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life: Wow that was elegant and flawless. So good. I was so entranced by your delivery and vocals. So good. It was a scene out of a classic romance movie. AMAZING!!!!
Wow AMBER just upped her stock in the competition. Could she pull off a win??? I think that it is doable. CANDICE and ANGIE delivered pretty solid vocals. JANELLE gave an amazing vocal on one song but didn't seem grounded on the other. KREE is being very stagnant to me and that is not a good place to be at this point. People get complacent and stop voting. Don't want that to happen. I feel like one of our country gals will be heading home. More JANELLE than KREE.
