AMERICAN IDOL 12 Top 4 One Hit Wonders/

First I must apologize for the lack of post. I was in tech week for a production of Ragtime and I am finally finding time to write.

The theme is so lackluster. One Hit Wonder's and Contestant's Choice.......UGH. Just from the theme alone, you get the feeling that the contestants, the production team, and the judges are just doing this for formality.

Amber Holcomb - MacArthur Park: I dislike this song for some reason. But that not the reason why I didn't like this performance. Amber just didn't have the vocals to deliver the goods especially on the sustained notes. Just wasn't my type of performance.

Candice Glover - Emotion: Definitely not your best but that was mostly due to the song choice. This song just stays on one plane and I don't consider it a one hit wonder but it is what it is. It was probably one of your worst. It fell flat and I didn't feel anything behind it.

Kree Harrison - Whiter Shade Of Pale: Nice song choice for you. It was bluesy. It was heartfelt. It was probably the most that I have seen you engaged in a song but I want more. I feel like I have not seen you give your entire being to a song yet. It always seems so tense and structured.

Kree Harrison - It Hurt So Bad: You smiled!! It was a pretty good blues vocal. There were a couple questionable notes but overall pretty good! I want you to be this type of artist.

Angie Miller - Cry Me A River: You gave me intense goosebumps. It has a Streisand quality to it. A finesse that you rarely see especially from someone who is not yet 20. Awesome vocal!!!

Amber Holcomb - Power Of Love: Great vocal. Old fashioned song but you did a great job with it. Nothing more to say.

Candice Glover - Find Your Love: Yes you better make this an R&B ballad. I really love what you did with the song. It had that smooth vibe to it and I totally prefer it to the original. Seriously nothing wrong with it at all.

Angie Miller - Who You Are: Take my word, you at the piano is so magical. You just get lost and become melded with the keys. You just pour your heart and soul out on the table and leave it there. AMAZING!!!

DUETS

Amber/Kree - Rumor Has It: Could there be anymore of a disconnect between the two contestants and the song? This was a weird arrangement. The key never settled and firmed for me. It felt like they were all over the place. I will say that Amber sang it better than Kree. Just didn't feel together for me.

Candice/Angie - Stay: Possibly one of the best performances of Season 12. Seriously they just SANG!!!!! The harmonies were so tight and meaningful. AWESOMENESS!!!! Please let this be our top 2!!! The finale would be fire!!!

So friends....I am really digging the female forces on American Idol this season. No one gave an horrific performance, which normally lingers at this stage in the game. I feel like AMBER and KREE will be our bottom 2. Their solos were not stellar and memorable and their duet was not good. CANDICE gave us great performances but was not at the top of her game. Maybe she is saving it for the finale? But at this point, saving can be super detrimental to the end result. ANGIE stepped it up big time. Honestly, I feel like she can take the entire thing now.
