Guess Who's Back???? American Idol Season 14 anyone???

After being bored to tears with American Idol Season 13 and just not having the time to blog about it, I decided to hang up the blogging towel.

Now since I have my ideal job, singing with this awesome group called Ball In The House, and that I have On Demand, I was able to keep up with the show so far. I must say that I have enjoyed this season. Much much more than the previous season. So I am excited to announce my return to the blogosphere!!!!

On with the show, the auditions seemed very promising. So many more talented singers and not a lot of horrible ones. Good sign that they were looking for the real deal this time around. I was a little peeved at the lack of respect that Harry and Keith had during some of the auditions. I don't care what audition you are in, if the judges are talking while you are singing, it is just rude!!! I would have been really upset had I been in that situation. Hollywood week helped some of the contestants mature and figure what kind of artist they want to be. LOVED the House of Blues round. That needs to happen each and every year!! For the first time EVER, I can stomach everyone in the Top 24. That has never been the case. There was always a few people that just didn't belong but this one is going to come down to matter of taste.

After watching their House of Blues performances, here is my ranking of the TOP 12 GUYS:

12. Mark Andrew - While he has a decent voice, there was nothing behind that to back it up. Unfortunately that performance fell very flat in emotion to me.

11. Trevor Douglas - Horrible song choice. Definitely didn't deliver his best vocal. I have heard him do much better in previous rounds. The only thing that is giving this kid some edge is his amazing personality.

10. Adam Ezegelian - Okay voice. Seems like a nice dude but not much there after that. I think that you could find a singer like him at any standard karaoke bar. Granted that singer would be the life of the party but just nothing special for American Idol. I just don't what kind of artist he would be.

9. Michael Simeon - Sweet voice but that is all. I have yet to hear a performance that didn't sound like the previous one. He definitely has room to grow but I don't think that he will be able to find his footing by one live show.

8. Riley Bria - Decent voice but nothing unique about him or his voice. I would love for him to go beyond the singing and really tap into what he is singing about. I want to see his singer's soul.

7. Quentin Alexander - Nice tone to his voice. I think that he needs to pick songs that drive more or have more energy. He could go far but he needs to make sure that he plays it smart.

6. Qaasim Middleton - Great performance. I totally enjoyed the first half vocal but then he got a little too much into his performance. The vocal became very shouty. I think that if he focuses on not trying to be so outlandish, he could probably go to the finals with no issue.

5. Daniel Seavey - Neat voice. I love the unpolished sound with his voice. The tone of his voice is pretty mature but his musical choices have not gotten there just yet. I am looking forward to seeing growth from this young man. He has the charm and cute kid factor going for him.

4. Nick Fradiani, Jr - Great showmanship. Awesome vocals. I would love to see more variety in the musical choices in the song.

3. Savion Wright - He is ready for the real deal right now. I enjoyed all of the vocal nuances and the way that he roadmapped the song. Vocal texture just screams professional. All about this guy!

2. Rayvon Owen - THE TONE!!! His voice just grabs me inside my soul and lifts it up. He has this magic of picking the right songs for himself. Yea I need this man to go all of the way.

1. Clark Beckham - THIS GUY!!! He just sings and plays from his pinky toe!!! Like I mean, clean vocals with amazing stage presence. Those runs. Those riffs. Those growls. EVERYTHING!!!

And my ranking of the TOP 12 GIRLS:

12. Shi Scott - Nothing special. Just not my cup of tea. I think that she has potential but did not deliver the goods. And that ending????? Why did they entertain that mess????

11. Adanna Duru - I can tell that she has vocal skills but WOW over performance much??? That was a little bit of a mess. I need her to tone it down a lot. She was trying and everything came off as contrived.

10. Alexis Gomez - Good voice. It can be a little whiney at times but overall good. I would to see a performance that didn't feel so forced.

9. Shannon Berthiaume - Fantastic voice but I totally question her ability to last through the competition. With the House of Blues being her first live performance, I worry that she will buckle under the pressure.

8. Jax - The pause took me out of every moment that you created before that. The vocals were okay but nothing to write home about. I have heard you perform better. I hope that you bring it on the live shows.

7. Katherine Winston - Beautiful voice. I just don't know much about her. If she can find enough to standout, she might be able to make it into the Top 12.

6. Lovey James - Fantastic vocals but she just seemed a little green up there on stage. There was just something unpolished. I don't know if she is ready for the big stage just yet. Lots of energy and great vocals but needs some more experience.

5. Maddie Walker - Great vocals. I think that she has presence but something is lacking underneath. Vocally, she is on it! Just need her to sell each performance. Maybe the sing off was meant to be a wake up call.

4. Loren Lott - It is like you have two different voices. There is a weak timid adolescent voice, that I am not a fan of. Then there is this heavy earthy voice, that I want you to use EVERY time you open your mouth.

3. Joey Cook - Such a solid performance and vocal. Loved it!! It was refreshing and you picked the perfect song for you to showcase what kind of artist you are. Fantastic!!!

2. Tyanna Jones - She just has it! She knows her voice and you can tell that she has been WORKING. She tackled that song with gusto and took no prisoners. Hopefully she can continue to pick songs that work for her and play to her youth.

1. Sarina Joi-Crowe - Wow!! This just made me want to hang up my singing hat! You told us a story and I loved every minute of it. Your vocals were fantastic. Your interpretation was unique and not overdone. Just classy and great!

I don't know exactly how this season is set up but I wish they would go back to the Top 24 to the top 20 to the top 16 to the top 12. You got to see more of the contestants and it gave the contestants a chance to grow. I am excited about blogging on American Idol again. If you don't already, make sure to follow TV Line on Youtube and watch Reality Check with Michael Slezak and Melinda Doolittle. AMAZING recap of the week by them!!!
