American Idol 14: Top 12 Reveal - Audition Songs
Here we go!! The good stuff!! The Top 12!!! So excited about getting to this point!! If you can't tell by my exclamation points!! I have a good feeling about this season. Let my top 8 actually be the top 8. Sarina, Jax, Tyanna, Joey, Rayvon, Nick, Quentin, and Clark. Okay on with my review. As always, my ranking goes from least favorite to favorite.
Daniel Seavey - Straight Up: I just don't think that you are ready. There have been some amazing teenagers on this show but you lack the confidence and experience to sustain. I wish that the judges had passed on you and told you to come back for season 16. This just wasn't if for me at all.
Qaasim Middleton - Sir Duke: I saw where you were going with the beginning but it still wasn't vocally sound for me. And it was just a mess throughout. Your voice was not up to par. Where is Savion???? Sad face. Your redeeming quality is that you give us a show each and every time but at some point, that is not going to be enough.
Sarina-Joi Crowe - Love Runs Out: So excited to see you here!!! Definitely not your best performance. I think that the excitement and the pressure got the best of you tonight. I think that you have so much to offer to this competition. You didn't get the initial pitch and it kind of went downhill from there. You tried to jump back on the boat but by that time it was too late. Still love ya!!!
Adanna Duru - You And I: I remember being blown by your audition of this song. Tonight, I think that nerves and excitement got the best of you. Overall good but just not consistently great. Overshot the middle section a lot but recovered a little towards the end.
Nick Fradiani - In Your Eyes: Nice vocal. Polished but maybe too straight laced. In a sea of lots of interesting contestants, you need to stand out in a better way than being the oldest contestant.
Maddie Walker - Suitcase: This was the most consistent and present that I have ever heard you. Lots of good things happening during this performance. Now I want you to get out of your head and give us a little facial expression! Potentially very good!
Joey Cook - King Of Spain: I just want to be your best friend. I loved that even though you were excited, the vocal was very much intact. I hope that you stick around because to me the competition would be very less interesting without you around.
Quentin Alexander - Royals: You just lived in that moment and we watched with eyes wide open. You sang from the bottom most part of your soul. There were a couple of pitch moments but you nailed the delivery.
Tyanna Jones - Wings: You have such a presence! Yea there were a couple of pitch issues but you gave that performance 120%! I think that once you get in a pocket, you will be unstoppable because you want this!!
Jax - I Wanna Hold Your Hand: The beginning with just you and the piano...I WANTED MORE OF THAT. I thought that the band coming in was not needed at all. If you stayed at the piano, that would have been a moment because you had the audience from the first note.
Rayvon Owen - Wide Awake: Such a super clean vocal! Your vocal tone is heavenly and magical. I just want to go to sleep in it. This was a perfect arrangement and song for you. With this performance, you proved that you are one of the top vocalist this season.
Clark Beckham - It's A Man's World: Like I don't even know if I can hold my composure. This took me to another level. Not many performances have done that for me. Stank face throughout this performance. He took me on a journey from beginning to end, note to note, nuance to nuance. Please deliver like this each and every week!!!! You sing like you have been on this earth for 50 years. Like you have been through some stuff and all you can do is sing about it. You mean SERIOUS BUSINESS!!! Just a straight up sexy performance!!
There you have it! Our Top 12 which will abruptly become our Top 11 tomorrow. Crazy schedules this season. We had to say goodbye to Loren Lott, Alexis Gomez, Mark Andrew, and Adam Ezegelian. No really big shockers. They left when they were supposed to. As for our 12, there were some rough performances tonight. My FAVORITE female performer is in trouble already. At least, you know that I don't show favoritism when doing these blog posts. Going first and having a very rough performance could seal the deal for Sarina but I am hoping that the Daniel fans don't rally against us and create a travesty. I would love to see Daniel or Qaasim go. I think that both of them have nothing to offer besides the cute factor or great stage presence but the vocals are very subpar when it comes to being compared to the rest of the pack. Adanna has a chance of going home as well with a shouty performance and not getting the vote to begin with. Nick could also get lost in the mix with many personalities showcasing their full potential so early on. With this whirlwind of a show, anything can happen!
