American Idol 15: Top 8 Eliminations/Top 6

They are really trying to steamroll through this season. It is like Idol producers are over it already. Or maybe Fox executives are over it. As always, I rank the performances from least favorite to favorite.

Dalton Rapattoni/MacKenzie Bourg - I Want It That Way: Nope nope nope. I liked the groove of the arrangement. The vocals were all over the place. For some reason, this really showed your vocal weaknesses. UGH. I want so much more for you. I can't get with this.

Lee Jean/Tristan McIntosh - I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing: Hmmmmm this was a little bit of a mess. Tristan was shouty and Lee was a little under from time to time. Not a good match all around. I have nothing else to really say about it.

Dalton Rapattoni - Eleanor Rigby: Look. I get it. He is fantastic with his creativity and stage presence. Strip that all away. Strip away the lights, the fog, the orchestra, and the "cute boy" factor and just listen to his vocals. Nowhere near the rest of the competition. He does not have the vocals to really hold a candle to anyone. It is kind of upsetting because it really is a mirror image of the real world. Musicality and vocals should not be secondary in a singing competition. Not buying his act anymore.

Lee Jean - Let It Be: This really showcased his tone. His nerves totally got in the way. I thought that he gave an okay performance. I liked most of his vocal choices. I just felt like the nerves did not help him solidify his vocal.

Tristan McIntosh - Broken Wing: Good in spots. Especially in the beginning. It got shouty towards the end. I feel like she needs time to really get into her voice. Has so much potential. She just needs to really sit in her pocket. I want her back at the piano. She seemed to be more comfortable.

Avalon Young - PYT: I loved that she chose an upbeat song that she could play with. The problem was that it didn't have enough performance energy to match the drive of the song. She so cool on the stage but it comes off as not trying hard enough. I get it.

Trent Harmon - Stand By Me: Nice vocal. I felt that there were some moments where he was unsure. It is one of those songs where the melody is great for about 30 seconds but then you have to do so much to make it different. Lots of ad libs have to happen in order to execute the song properly. While I appreciate his style, he needs to be careful about the ad lib choices.

Sonika Vaid - I Have Nothing: There is no denying that she has a beautiful voice. I felt like she still held back. I want the "Bring Me To Life" Sonika back. It wasn't as vocally connected as I would have liked it to be. Yes, she gave a stunning performance. I just think that it could have been so much more if she had put some umph behind it.

MacKenzie Bourg - You Are So Beautiful: This was beautiful. Emotion came out during his performance. It was flawless. It didn't have power in the spots that I wanted more but it was still a beautiful rendition.

Avalon Young/Sonika Vaid - Rise Up: Thank you! From note one, I felt the emotion. One of the best vocals this season. I felt the connection between the two of them. Fantastic delivery from both singers. It had passion and supreme vocal execution. Beautiful!

Trent Harmon/La'Porsha Renae - See You Again: Magical and professional. I loved the harmonic moments in between the melody. The additional harmonies were awesome! These folks know how to sing a song. Here are your Top 2!

La'Porsha Renae - Come Together: Yes Yes Yes!!! She gave me sass. She gave me vocals. She gave me professionalism. That is how you win a competition! La'Porsha was SO IN THE POCKET with this performance. Everything from the totally committed vocal to the playful stage presence just worked. She made me want to pay to see a La'Porsha concert. This performance surely separated her from the pack. This was the moment that she needed to solidify her inevitable win.

Our Bottom 3 this week was Avalon, Lee, and Sonika. IMO this was the right Bottom 3. Avalon had to give the performance of her life to get saved twice. Lee was a goner as soon as he was announced in the Bottom 3. Sonika has one of the most beautiful tones. She gave a really good vocal. Didn't blow me away but because of the circumstances, she logically had to be saved. Avalon's style will absolutely be missed. I thought she added a great component to the show. Lee has a lot of time to grow. If he really works hard on his confidence, he will be an awesome artist. I would love to see Dalton and Tristan go home next week should the double eliminations continue. La'Porsha and Trent solidified their spots in the next round. I really think that they have the Top 2 spots on lock. Sonika will need a fantastic performance to edge someone out. MacKenzie has a soothing vocal but it can be too soothing. He just needs to be careful with that. Dalton could very well be in the Top 4 because he has the "cute boy" factor. I am not a fan of his style or the fawning over him lol. They are just rushing through this season and it is making me sad. This is the last season. Milk it out no matter what!!! SMH.......

Until Next Time.........
