The Voice 10: Knockouts
The Knockouts!!! Now I prefer the battles because they are singing the same song. I like the knockouts because we get a preview as to what it will be like on the live shows. I will review each performance and tell you who should have won. OAN does anyone else want to be a judge on The Voice? I know that I really would love it. Especially with a spinning chair involved. Alright, I digress. On to the Knockouts!!!!
Paxton Ingram - Hometown Glory Vs. Angie Keilhauer - Take Your Time
Initially, Paxton's tone is a little too narrow for me. It comes off as immature. There are lots of things that he can do with his voice but he needs to broaden his sound. He delivered but I want him to really dig deeper. Angie totally picked the wrong song. I love this song but just not for her and not for this competition. Especially with the talk/rap in the beginning, she was never able to establish herself in the song.
MY WINNER: Lesser of two evils here....Paxton Ingram

WOULD I STEAL: Nope...Angie was just too unsure of herself on a song that she picked.
Owen Danoff - She's Always A Woman Vs. Ryan Quinn - Drops Of Jupiter
Owen picked the right song for him and the lane that he wants to compete in. His voice is crisp and clear. Nothing much to it. Sometimes simple is all that you need. Ryan definitely has a voice. He needs to create more of an arc in his performances. Yes he has the notes but now he needs the commitment behind them.
MY WINNER: Ryan Quinn

WOULD I STEAL: Absolutely yes! I am glad that Christina stole him. Her team just keeps picking up steam.
Malik Heard - Isn't She Lovely Vs. Hannah Huston - House Of The Rising Sun
Malik sounded tired and out of tune in spots. This is not a song to sing in any competition setting. It goes nowhere. Beautiful song but no anything to it. I don't know what happened in the last 20 seconds but man that was scary with the key change at the end. What was that??? Hannah took us on a journey! One of the better versions that I have heard of this song. She started out telling the story. Then she left the mic stand and got gritty with it. That is how you do it.

WOULD I STEAL: Nope....Malik had a horrible song choice and didn't deliver vocally.
Katie Basden - Gypsy Vs. Lacy Mandigo - Zombie
Katie has an amazing tone and way of singing. Beautiful lift to her voice. Mature and well produced sound. Great song choice that meshed so well her voice. She is someone that I am watching out for. Lacy gave a good performance. I felt like most of it was unsettled in the verses and the choruses seemed screamy. She has good stage presence but her vocals aren't that great.

WOULD I STEAL: Nope....but she had 2 judges that wanted to steal her???? I don't get the appeal. She should not have made it to the live rounds.
Alisan Porter - River Vs. Daniel Passino - Ain't Too Proud To Beg
Alisan delivered a nice controlled vocal. She hit all of the notes that she needed to hit. Not a fan of the song but I loved the execution. Daniel is a victim of being against Alisan and poor song choice. I think with a better song to showcase his vocals, he could have had a fighting chance and a chance to get stolen.

WOULD I STEAL: Probably so....Daniel had potential and enough showmanship to have a good showing during the live rounds.
Shalyah Fearing - A Broken Wing Vs. Emily Keener - Big Yellow Taxi
Shalyah sang that with emotion and confidence that I have never heard in that song before. 15.....huh.....I am a little jealous lol. Her vocal had power and control. Took it to heights. Emily has this relaxing and soothing quality to her voice. She performs with so much ease.
MY WINNER: Shalyah Fearing

WOULD I STEAL: Absolutely yes.....Shalyah gave her all during that performance. Crazy to think that Pharrell gave her up. She needed to be in the live shows without a question.
Peyton Parker - Travelin' Solider Vs. Adam Wakefield - Bring It On Home To Me
Peyton did absolutely nothing for me. I felt like she was just going through the motions. Her voice is beautiful but you have to commit to some higher level of performance. Adam just has that type of voice that makes you pay attention. He makes any song fit his vocal styling.

Nick Hagelin - Lost Without U Vs. Moushumi - New Americana
Nick....NO. You tried to stay in your falsetto for the entire song. NO. Then those runs.....Sloppy McSlopperson. Wow...I can't believe how bad this was. Moushumi has a really nice tone. The song did absolutely nothing for me but when you are up against Mr. Falsetto, you don't have to do much.

Tamar Davis - Lay Me Down Vs. Maya Smith - No One
Alright now...Tamar slayed it all. She made the song fit her. I didn't feel like it was a cover at all. The little changes made a big difference. Such a confidence and power behind it. Maya definitely picked a horrible song. She seemed nervous vocally. Lots of strain and unsettled vocals.

WOULD I STEAL: Nope....Maya seemed too out of sorts and nervous for this stage in the competition.
Nate Butler - Let's Stay Together Vs. Brian Nhira - Grenade
Nate was so stiff up there. I felt the tenseness in his voice. If he had loosened up more physically, his performance would have been so much better. Brian definitely has a better vocal tone. One run was a little off but the rest was good. You seemed a little more nervous than usual. Get that under wraps and you have a real shot at winning this.

WOULD I STEAL: Probably Not......Nate has a decent voice but his body language was reading too stiff. He would choke during the live performances.
Brittany Kennell - You're Still The One Vs. Mary Sarah - You Ain't Woman Enough
Brittany still has an incredible tone. I just think that this was wrong song. She didn't know where to take some of her melodic lines. Sounded a little sick. Things just didn't fall into place. Mary Sarah is just a pro. She knows her voice. She knows how to work a stage. Her confidence coupled with her talent will take her far.

Bryan Bautista - Sorry Vs. Trey O'Dell - I Lived
Not a great song choice for Bryan. I know that he is a better singer than that song. Good vocals during most parts but I feel like the song held you back. Trey definitely showed all of his nerves on the stage. Too bad because he has a very good voice.

Abby Celso - Rich Girl Vs. Caity Peters - Leave Your Lover
Abby has a nice voice but this song made her lose her way. She didn't know what to do with the ad lib section and it sat in an uncomfortable spot in her range. Caity is a secret weapon for Team Pharrell. Give her the right song and she can take it all. The way that she wraps herself in a song is extraordinary. So beautiful.

WOULD I STEAL: Probably So.....Abby has done enough for me to deserve a second shot. Her song choice and uncertainty were her downfall with this performance.
Laith Al-Saadi - In Your Eyes Vs. Jessica Crosbie - Wake Me Up
Laith has some awesome moments in his voice. I don't know if I liked this song for him but he delivered. Jessica has a good voice but this song choice did her in. She had difficulty with the pacing and rhythm. I felt that she was behind the beat at times especially in the beginning.

Caroline Burns - Human Vs. Katherine Ho - Realize
Okay....do they just HATE Katherine??? They have every step of her journey into a montage. Craziness. I would be fuming. Not once have we seen a full performance from her. From the clip, I didn't get enough of Caroline to determine what my thoughts were nor did I even hear Katherine sing......WTH??????
Kata Hay - Why Haven't I Heard From You Vs. Joe Maye - Earned It
Alright Kata! She is definitely the dirtiest sounding female in the competition. Now if she can work on her diction, she can get to the end. Her stage presence is stunning. Joe has a nice voice but it is far from polished. Very amateurish in most spots. Song choice was kind of meh.
