The Voice 10: Top 12
Here we are with the Top 12. I love the Itunes idea but I also dislike it. Sure, someone with a great fanbase will vote for them but not all fans buy their songs on Itunes. I am not sure of when I made my last purchase on Itunes. Someone could give an outstanding performance but lose the advantage by not having sales. Sucks but I guess those are the breaks. As usual, I will rank the performances from least favorite to favorite.
Daniel Passino - Human Nature: Ugh. The first half was decent. Your stage presence is annoying. Just too much bravado for me. Then you went into your falsetto and you just lost your way. The notes were all over the place. Just not good at all.
Nick Hagelin - Mine Would Be You: Still not there vocally. It wasn't all in your falsetto but your chest voice was very unsettled. I didn't feel a connection to the song at all from you.
Owen Danoff - 7 Years: I am not a fan of the song choice. I like your vocal tone but I didn't feel the commitment behind the performance. Just a "meh" performance for me.
Bryan Bautista - Kiss From A Rose: One of my favorite songs. Unfortunately, this was not your best performance. Lots of shaky notes. You were just under during most of the song. I enjoyed some of your changes toward the end. Definitely heard you do better.
Paxton Ingram - Hands To Myself: Song choice.....horrible. Performance....good. I would love for you to thicken your tone. Definitely verging on annoying and unbearable.
Mary Sarah - So Small: Very clean vocal. I didn't wow me but I liked the song choice for you. I feel like you can definitely take it to the next level with your performance. Give me more! I know that you have more to give!
Laith Al-Saadi - Born Under A Bad Sign: I loved the groove of the performance. I actually wish that your voice was dirtier. Your voice sat very nice in the song. You had moments of growl but I wouldn't mind it from the beginning. Overall, pretty good.
Alisan Porter - Stone Cold: Great vocal. Couple of unsure moments but overall good. I would love to see more of an emotional connection to your performances. Take us back to the blind auditions. That is where you were amazing. I want that back.
Adam Wakefield - Soulshine: Just my type of singing! His vocal tone just has a way of making every song feel authentic. Not my favorite song choice from him but he delivered a great performance. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
Shaylah Fearing - Up To The Mountain: No denying your amazing vocal ability. Now I just need you to connect more. You are doing an extremely great job with that aspect but I want to more internalized feeling from your performances. You have the maturity of a seasoned pro especially with the control of your voice.
Hannah Huston - Something's Got A Hold On Me: Yes ma'am! The stage presence. The growl. The vocal tone. Yes indeed. Own it! I am digging her style of performance!!!
Emily Keener - Lilac Wine: She had me from the first second. Just phrased so beautifully. This had a high degree of difficulty. She sang through it like a piece of cake. So much want and emotion in the vocals. I felt that you were connected to the lyrics. I had never heard this song before but it made me weep. So good!
If I had to choose a bottom 2, Daniel and Nick would have to go. Of course, they are going to get the "hot guy" vote. I don't expect them to go anywhere. So America voted and we had Emily and Owen in the Bottom 2. Owen was understandable IMO but Emily.....She gave a stellar performance. And then of course, we have the instant save. Everyone seems to love Owen. But Emily gave the performance of the night. So sad to see her go. I would love to hear more from her. Hopefully she goes on to do amazing things!!!
Until next time......
