The Voice 10: The Finals

Well here we are. THE FINALS. Once again, this season has had some really standout performances. Pretty awesome to watch. My first season of blogging for The Voice and I picked a good one. Awesome to have a representative from each coach in the finals. That doesn't happen very often. As always, I will rank the performances from least favorite to favorite.

Hannah Huston/Pharrell Williams - Brand New: I love this song as a recording. Not sure how I feel about it live. Not sure how I feel about it as a duet in the finale. Hannah tried to give it her all but there isn't much that you could do with this song. Not her fault at all.

Adam Wakefiedl/Blake Shelton - The Conversation: I get it. Country has it's own flair. It has it's own appeal. This kind of country is just not for me. While I enjoyed Adam's voice, I didn't like the two of them together. Just okay for me.

Hannah Huston - I Call The Shots: This song would be fire with the right performance. I am thinking backup dancers, live band on stage, and more confidence from Hannah. The beat is so hot. It just didn't come across so well with this particular performance. I can see how is going to slay on radio/recording but just needs more to make the live performance stand out. The bridge just came out of left field and didn't fit in with the overall mood of the song. Wasn't a fan of that.

Adam Wakefield - When I Call Your Name: Very nice song for your voice. Allowed for you to really connect with the lyric and the song. While this was good, I want to see you go for more of a Blues/Rock country sound. This is beautiful but I am ready for some edge!

Laith Al-Saadi - Morning Light: Perfect song for him. Funky vocals matched with emotional lyrics in a bluesy song. I totally loved it but is it radio ready??? Probably not. I think that will hurt him more than anything.

Laith Al-Saadi/Adam Levine - Beatles Medley: I loved the combination of the voices in this performance. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the vocals and the production. The instrumental riff off really stood out in a good way. I just liked it.

Laith Al-Saadi - White Room: Rock on, sir! I loved it for the first minute or so. Then I tuned out. I think that it was too much of the same driving beat for too long. I liked the performance of it. Especially when he manages to throw in a guitar solo.

Alisan Porter - Down That Road: It was a great song for her but had no real arc. I loved her vocals but was waiting to be elevated with each minute and that didn't happen. Nice melody but I wanted more. Her vocals were amazing for what she was given.

Alisan Porter/Christina Aguilera - You've Got A Friend: Their voices complimented each other so well. I was so good to hear subtle runs from Christina sprinkled throughout but she didn't overpower Alisan. She let her have her moment. That made this performance so graceful and grounded.

Adam Wakefield - Lonesome, Broken, And Blue: I loved the feel and vibe of the song. Performed it so well. The backing harmonies really enhanced this for me. Great song for his voice. I can totally see how this could be a hit for him.

Hannah Huston - Every Breath You Take: Come on and sang! She turned this song from creepy to emotion driven. This was very close to performance perfection. Fantastic feel to the arrangement. Great vocal execution.

Alisan Porter - Somewhere: Classy all around. Wow she hit those notes with power and grace. Especially towards the end. I really was entranced by her performance. It was less screechy and more mature. Fantastic performance.

Great finale! So for me, it is probably going to come down to Alisan or Adam. I would love for Hannah to have a shot but her original did not have enough fire. Laith is good but he is going to have a difficult time getting the public to vote for him up against the other 3. If I had to choose, I would go with Alisan as the winner of Season 10.

Until next time.......
