American Idol Overhaul: Season 12
This is the season that I watched with a vengeance. I knew that Candice Glover was auditioning. She was one of my favorites in Season 11. She didn't make the top 24. I needed her to make it far this season. She went on to win! So awesome. We had some judge changes. No more J Lo. No more Steven. We got Mariah, Nikki, and Keith. What a panel! So much drama and I loved it. Even though, at times, it took away from the contestants. They also added a Vegas round
THE FINALIST
CURTIS FINCH JR
Nice smooth tone but just never delivered for me.
PAUL JOLLEY
Very nice voice but always picked the wrong song.
DEVIN VELEZ
I really liked his voice. Something just didn't click with the viewing audience.
BURNELL TAYLOR
Had a nice new school R&B sound. His stage presence could have used more finesse.
LAZARO ARBOS
Cute guy but was way over his head. Nice voice but he never found his footing.
JANELLE ARTHUR
Very good sound to her voice. She was just in the season with some really amazing singers.
AMBER HOLCOMB
Surprise voice to come out of nowhere. Sultry and powerful.
ANGIE MILLER
She grabbed my attention with her original. She just soared throughout the competition.
KREE HARRISON
Very solid voice with a crystal clear tone. Not much more than that, unfortunately.
CANDICE GLOVER
She was the queen of this season from the start. It was meant for her to win. Her vocals were always on the money. She was creative and determined. Confidence with sheer talent.
WHO GOT ROBBED.........
BRYANT TADEO
Bryant Tadeo - New York State Of Mind
I just don't understand what happened here. He was WAY better than most of the guys. The guys were seriously lacking this season. His tone was rich. He definitely had great musicality.
VINCENT POWELL
Vincent Powell - Cause I Love You
He had it! But he had a misstep with End Of The Road and it was just that for him. His performance gave me a glimpse into his experience. He had vocals and stage presence for days. Again, with a season of lackluster male performances, how did he not get into the Top 12???
AUBREY CLELAND
Aubrey Cleland - Sweet Dreams
She had something about her that I just really liked. I was happy that she got to go on the tour but she was pretty much in direct competition with Amber.
CORTEZ SHAW
Cortez Shaw - Titanium
Again....in a season of lackluster male performances, how did he dropped off into the wayside? I liked his fresh R&B tone. He had very high energy and great stage presence. I preferred his Locked Out Of Heaven but this shows that he could sing.
DEVIN VELEZ
Devin Velez - Somos Novios (It's Impossible)
I was at least satisfied that he got into the Top 12. His vocal tone was beautiful and he knew how to deliver a song. I would have loved to see him be the last guy standing. I don't understand how Lazaro lasted longer than he did.
BURNELL TAYLOR
Burnell Taylor - This Time
Definitely had a voice but just not sure what to do with it. He is really only here because he should have outlasted Lazaro lol. Seriously, he just needed another year.
ANGIE MILLER
Angie Miller - You Set Me Free
This season should have had an Angie/Candice finale. No question. Angie Miller was a force to reckoned with! She came out of the gate with some original music that floored the competition. Her vocals were pretty spot on. Her stage presence was fantastic!

I definitely remember having an out of body experience when this came on. I couldn't contain myself after this performance. I probably listened to it 10 times after the initial performance just to make sure that I heard what I heard. As I am typing this, I have listened to it 4 times lol. Definitely a masterclass in covering all of your bases in a song. I wasn't even phased by the mysterious voice from beyond that had to give Candice her props LOL.
