American Idol Season 11 Top 12 Girls
Well here we are again with the ladies this time around. I am so curious to see how tomorrow plays out. You will always have your surprises and upsets. I tend to like the female voice better but the females have not won American Idol since season 6. 5 YEARS!!!! It is craziness to think that Jordin Sparks was the last female winner. Here's how the girls stacked up:
Haley Johnsen - Sweet Dreams: GIRL.....seriously??? This was a complete mess in every aspect. HMMMM NOOOOOO!!! A MESSSSSS!!!!!
Baylie Brown - Amazed: This is one of my karaoke standout songs. She is stunningly beautiful but not so talented. Vocals were all over the place and flat. It seemed very disconnected. Not an impressive showing at all.
Brielle Von Hugel - Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay: Who picked this song for you? Seriously, not a great song choice. I would have loved to see you do more with it. Good voice but it didn't do anything for me. There were moments of incompleteness. I liked the 2nd verse much better than the 1st. You should sing in upper register more. I do like your voice but not that performance.
Chelsea Sorrell - Cowboy Casanova: I thought that it was okay but a bit whiny. Better than I expected but it wasn't great. The choruses seemed flat for the most part. I actually liked the song choice for your voice just not a good performance. Especially on the "i" vowels, the voice seemed a little thin and whiny.
Skylar Laine - Stay With Me: This was a manic performance. So much grit in your voice but at the same time thin and spread. You have spunk, which might take you pretty far. I wonder what you sound like when you are not out of breath from running around on stage.
Jen Hirsch - One And Only: This is one of my favorite songs ever!!!! I appreciate some of the vocal changes while some of them I did not appreciate. I like your vocals. They remind me a bit of Katharine McPhee. The ending was a bit sloppy but still good.
Shannon Magrane - Go Light Your World: HATE the song choice. It came off very "middle school talent show" like. But your vocals are awesome. You have power and passion behind that instrument. I just wish that is could have been to a better song.
Hallie Day - Feeling Good: As much as I hate this song, I believe that you delivered it the way that it should be. Sultry and sexy. You had the whole package going for you. I can see the type of singer you are. Jazzy and sultry. Pitch was good and tone was awesome as well. Hope to see you in the top 12.
Elise Testone - One And Only: I love the harshness and grit of your vocals. You gave me the goosebumps in the beginning. I just worry about the health of your vocals. I love your interpretation of the song.
Erika Van Pelt - What About Love: The tone of her voice is so amazing to me!!! I would buy records just to hear her soothing voice. Man I liked the performance. Yea I slipped on the boring side a little but it was solid and in key. Good job!!!
Hollie Cavanagh - Reflection: Goosebumps! You seemed a little nervous but when you hit your stride, IT WAS AMAZING!!!! You were in key and did some incredible vocal lines. You have so much power in voice and I can't wait to hear what you do next!!!! Just let loose a little more!!!
Jessica Sanchez - Love You I Do: YESSSSS!!!! This girl sings down everytime!!!! SERIOUSLY KILLING ME WITH THE VOCALS!!! So much power and fearlessness. Even sick, she comes out with guns blazing!!!!! WHOA blew me away!!!!
Well there some awesome moments and then there were moments of "Where is CANDACE GLOVER????". Jessica, Hollie, Erika, Shannon, and Elise all did exceptionally well. Hallie, Jen, and Skylar were good but I don't know if they have the edge to take them into the top 12. Baylie disappointed. Chelsea was forgettable. Brielle was non existent. Haley was HORRENDOUS!!! None of them better even scratch the safe zone at any point tomorrow. Our first results show will be tomorrow. So exciting!!!
